The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him (Proverbs 18:17, ESV)
I came to the this familiar proverb in my Bible reading today. Obviously great words from a wise judge – Solomon. It is always wise to hear both sides of a disagreement whenever possible so that you can make a wise decision or provide good counsel. My “read” about a hurtful situation based on one person’s input might be changed if I talk to another person or just get a few more facts. As a pastor I find myself needing to practice this proverb regularly. I pray I might learn to be better at it. Of course it helps when everyone tells the truth!
